1) By being global minded, you are allowing yourself to learn more about the rest of the world. Furthermore, it is very important to be global minded in Singapore as we are a multiracial country and we need to learn and respect those around us that come from different cultures. As I said above, Victoria School is a partner with Cedar Girl's School and thus it is relevant for every Victorian to be global-minded and learn more about each other's culture etc.
2) It is easy to be global minded. Just read more news and have more general knowledge. For example, if you know a certain culture doesn't like something, just don't do it. Global mindedness in me is evident to my friends as I know my basic general knowledge, what to do and what not to do. I am also open to new things.
3) I believe the best way to foster the development of global mindedness in a person is through the environment. By having people around you of different nationalities and cultures as such, you will slowly learn how to be global minded as it is inevitable to not learn more about them when you mix around with these people. School programmes also help to foster the development of global mindedness. One very obvious programme is Racial Harmony Day, where people can wear different ethnic clothing's to school and there are fun activities to engage you into learning more about others.
4) I think the whole quote is true. However, a few things can be added to it. "A global mindset combines an openness to and awareness of diversity across cultures" I think that a global mindset also means understanding different cultures, as just knowing about a culture is not enough. You should inquire, such as why this is like this etc. "It respects how different countries do things and has the imagination to appreciate why other cultures do them that way." I do not think that it is imagination that is required to appreciate why other cultures do it in whatever way. I believe that it is through true understanding and perhaps even compassion, that you can feel why the specific culture does it that way. "But, a global mindset is also incisive – to push the limits of one's own way of doing things" I agree with this statement, and I have a few things to add. By learning about other's ways of doing things, you can benefit from it and try to do it yourself, improving your own knowledge.
